Eligibility
Individuals: eligible
"Anyone under the age of 13 should have a parent/guardian submitting." This is the only eligibility rule on the page; there is no country, residency or student restriction.
Checked for one adult entering alone from Nevada, USA. Rules can differ by country, so read the rule quoted here for where you live.
Entry cost
Free to enter
Payout
unknown
Not specified in the 2026 rules. In the 2025 Q&A, asked PayPal vs debit vs gift cards, the host said 'We will try to meet the wishes of how the winner wants to receive their prize.' No KYC or tax process is described. No public evidence was found that 2025 winners were paid.
Rights — what you give up
entrant-keeps
'Anything you make during the RDGC Game Jam is your property. We do not claim any rights or ownership.' The organizer may show submissions (game, itch page, artwork) on YouTube, X, Instagram, Discord and other social channels, and reserves the right to disqualify or remove any submission.
Gotchas
- The organizer is a student club at Rickards High School (Leon County Schools, Tallahassee FL), not a company. There are no formal legal terms, no payout process, and no track record of paying out beyond one prior year with a $300 pool.
- The deadline is in UTC: the effective close for Nevada is Thu Oct 30, 2026 at 8:59 PM PDT, not Oct 31.
- The no-generative-AI rule covers 'substantial portions of game code' and all art and audio. An AI-heavy build workflow would risk disqualification, and the 2025 submission form asked for code snippets, which may be used to check this.
- Ranking is by community votes from other participants, and rating counts are small (about 5 per game in 2025). Rating other entries and a browser (WebGL) build matter; the host advised against download-only builds because voters skip them.
